Speaker: Hi, I am here with Dominick at dp which is in Downtown Albany next to Yono's and in the Hampton Inn & Suites hotel and he is the Sommelier at dp and he is going to give us some advice on what to do when we're going to a restaurant and want to pick a great wine with a great meal.
Dominick: Hello, when visiting restaurants whether hopefully to mine or any other one, your greatest resource for choosing wine would be the staff there, whether it's a Sommelier, wine steward or your steward would -- things are that they probably try the wine, and they probably try it with some food, hopefully what you're going to be having for dinner that night. So feel free to ask them questions, now they're there to help you and guide you to your tour. So we are faced with a wine list like this, and it's 40 pages ,and 1000 wines deep. We can kind of help you to break that down and make your dining experience a little more enjoyable
Speaker: What specifically should they say? They should give the waiter their dish and maybe how many people are at the table that are going to drink wine, and maybe like the --
Dominick: Certainly, the more information you can give them the better. If you let them know obviously what you're going to be having for dinner and in your wines what would you prefer, a dryer wine, a sweeter wine, a dry red, and they can certainly keep all that information and have a better experience for you.
Speaker: If you're at like a business dinner or maybe a guy that wants to impress a girl and you don't want to tell them, hey, I only want to spend $40 on a bottle. What's a good way to give the server an idea?
Dominick: I good way would be probably to point to something, or probably by saying, I am looking for something along this line and certainly would be a win to tip off your dinning companion, so that would probably the easiest way to let them know.
Speaker: Okay. If someone was going to dp, what would be your top recommendation for a food and wine pairing?
Dominick: My top recommendation, right now, I would say, or seem to be world famous Kobe Sliders with a nice glass of Joseph Carr Cabernet.
Speaker: Thank you very much.
Dominick: Thank you.
