Angela Chan: Well, for appetizer I will recommend spring roll. Spring roll in Chinese is “Chun Guen”.” Chun” is spring. Roll is rolling up, that is “Guen,” so Chun Guen.
Interviewer: What about soups?
Angela Chan: Whether you want something spicy like hot and sour soup? In Chinese, hot and sour soups is inverted, it is called sour and hot soup. So, sour is “Suen”, hot is “Lat” and soup is “Tong.” So the whole thing all together is got Suen Lat Tong meaning hot and sour soup. Now, if you do not prefer for spicy food and just want something more plain, why not give it a try on Won Ton soup which means “Won Ton Tong” in Chinese. You noticed that “Won Ton” is one won ton. So won ton is actually an English version of “Won Ton”.
