Hey, I am Todd. We are going to talk about buffets today.
You may not notice, the buffets originated in ancient Rome. Probably some time prior to the year 100 A.D., something to think about when you are having a buffet is how much work is entailed?
Make it easier for your self, outsource. How people contribute? You do not have to make everything at a buffet. You do not have to buy and make everything at a buffet. You do not have to buy and/or make everything at a buffet.
By outsourcing, you allow people not only to bring and be a part of the buffet but you can make them feel like they contributing something. You know, it is family.
When you are asking people to bring something, here is a little tip, get an idea of what they might be bringing. Talk to them about it.
Let us say, here a list of things that you can contribute, you know via the email. Let us just say, let me know what you are bringing. That way you know, and do not double up.
Also, when you put out your tables for your buffet, keep yours separate. Let people know what you have done for this buffet. How much work have you done? What kind of thought have you put into this buffet? Let them know that. Discreetly, keep the table separate, it will make you look better in the end.
When you are having a buffet, you wanted to look nice, how are you going to lay it out? Remember colors matter.
Now painters use a colored matching scheme because it works. You know your blue is really do go with your oranges, or your yellows, your reds might go with your greens, and you could do that without making it look like it was Christmas time.
Think about on how you want to layout your buffet. What foods go with what foods go, taste wise and color wise. Think about that and people would say, “This is not just a buffet. This is a work of art”.
When you are having a buffet, stick to one theme. Mexican, Thai, Norwegian, make sure that you do not stray from that theme. It will help people not to get confuse as to what they are eating. Also by picking a theme, you also stick with certain ingredients it makes it easier for you. You make your list, you know what theme. You know what ingredients. You get those ingredients. If you are doing Moroccan, you got your kouman, you got your coriander right?
Sit to that theme is going to make people happy and it is going to make life easier for you.
