Hi! I’m Danny Gill from Lick Library. And in this lesson, I’m going to show you how to outline some chords with two-handed tapping. Here is the piece of music that we’re going to learn.
[Demonstration]
So since we’re not using the pick, we’re going to have a lot of hammer on. What we’re going to do is hammer on to the 3rd fret of the low E-string followed by the 5th fret of the A-string. Now we’re going to hammer on to the 12th fret of the B-string with the middle finger of the right hand to the 12th fret of the D-string with the first finger of the right hand. And if you can play those four notes, you can do the whole piece.
[Demonstration]
So after those first four notes, now I’m going to hammer on three on the row E, five on the eight, followed by 12 G, 12 on the A-string. So far, we’ve done eight notes and play that four times.
[Demonstration]
Now I’m going to shift with the left hand and now I’m going to out line a C5 chord 3rd fret of the A-string, 5ht fret of the D-string. And with the right hand, I’ll play 12 on the high E, 12 on G-string. The next four notes, three on the A-string, five on the D-string, followed by 12 on the B-string, 12 on the D-string. Play those eight notes four times.
[Demonstration]
Now with the left hand, I’m going to move up to a D5 chord, 5th fret of the A-string, 7th fret of the D-string and the right hand, we’ll do the exact same thing that we’ve just been doing for this C-chord. So here is the next idea.
[Demonstration]
So I played those eight notes four times, and now we’ll go back to the first phrase. Okay, let’s put all of that together now. Here we go.
[Demonstration]
So there’s an example of how you can use two handed tapping. It’s an outline of some chord shapes. That’s a nice melodic way to play rhythm. Hope you have fun with that one.
