If shyness is really interfering with your life and preventing you from functioning in everyday situations, then you may have social anxiety, and it may help to talk about it to an experienced expert such as a psychiatrist who can treat it. This video seems to be addressed towards people who feel shy from time to time in specific situations.

I too have shyness and social anxiety, i've experienced these problems for most of my life. I've tried psychotherapy, cbt, confidence building groups and anxiey workshops. I think the video does make some good points and has some understanding. If you want to become better at something what do you do? You practice and practice over and over. This is the point the video is not saying it is easy, far from it, but with practice it becomes easier. Or at least that's the theory.

Behavioural therapy alone does not work with anxiety disorders. It can actually make things worse. A very poor video indeed from someone who clearly does not understand social anxiey at all.

I fail to see how getting blown off a thousand times helps anybody, especially someone who is painfully shy. If anything, it made the shy person's problem 1000 times worse. I'm sorry, but this person does not have a clue as to what it means to be shy or how to help shy people.

This is a joke. When I go to things like weddings and job interviews I go unconscious and end up in the hospital. And I go to walmart about once a week with a total of over 300 times in my life. What? I should go to job interviews and go to the hospital eeryday. And Walmart still makes me nervious. This is a pie in the sky solution..........
