If you're trying to get straight lines, you a laser level, it's a quick and easy way to get professional looking stripes, just set up the laser and tape up your lines.
Here is a tip to get the cleanest lines. Before you paint your stripes, paint a light coat of the wall color on all the tape seams and let it dry. This will seal the edges. Then when you paint your stripes, you'll end up with crisp, clean lines, because the paint won't bleed under the tape.
And if you're looking to take your paint skills to new heights, consider adding color to your ceiling. If you have a textured ceiling, a roller with a thick nap will give you better coverage. With a few simple tricks your room can look like it was painted by the pros.
