Whoa man! I do not know if I am shaking the paint or it is shaking me. Now, listen! If you got a new wood door in your home or possibly some existing interior doors and you want to paint them, and you want really nice professional results and long-lasting results that protect the door, here are some very steps that you have to take.
The first thing I like to do is I would like to take the door hardware off. You are often tempted to jump in and paint the door and you try to tape around it, or you try to take a brush and paint around it. Listen, the time you spend doing all that, you could have taken the hardware off and then there is no danger at all of getting any paint on it. Now go ahead and take your handles off. Go ahead and take any fancy plates off as well and then you need to start with door hinges.
The way you take doors off hinges, I like, I go ahead and open the door. I slide a few shims under the door to support it. Then I begin to unscrew the hinges from the edge of the door. Start at the bottom. Work your way to the top. Now the door is completely free of the hinges, and you can go ahead and rotate the door on its side and lay it down so that the latch edge of the door is touching the ground. This exposes the bottom, the top, and the hinge edge of the doors that you can paint it.
Now, why is it important to paint the top and the bottom of doors? It is important because they can absorb moisture from the air, and this can cause the door to twist and you do not want that because it will cause all kinds of problems down the road. And once the door is twist, it is hard to get them back. [Whistling]
Alright, we got all the hardware off. It is time to paint. It is really simple to get pro results. Just take the time, get the hardware off the door, and break out the paint.
