Hi! I’m David Lupberger, with servicemagic.com In this video, I’m going to show you how to patch dry wall.
As you can see, dry wall is very easy to damage, but I’m going to show you, not very hard to patch. So first step, you see a variety of holes here, so before I do any kind of patching, because on most cases, I’m going to get a dry wall putty, or dry wall repair paste, and fill this holes. But before I do that, I need to take down anything that is sitting above the surface. Once I’ve knock down anything that is sitting higher, I’m going to take a piece of sand paper and briefly sand down anything else to make sure that I have a smooth surface.
All right, so what we’re going to do is patch this holes, you can use simple, here is sparkling, that you can get in any hardware store, I’m using something else, it’s a quick set and I’m doing that for the purpose of this video, so we can actually cover any one of this holes. Quick set very simply allows you, I’ll be coming back here about ten minutes sanding those and putting on a second coat. Because the first coat doesn’t usually do it, if I use sparkle, I have to wait all day to do the second time.
Now, you see we also have a bigger hole, so I’m going to take again the same compound, put it around the hole, and in this case, I’m going to use a dry wall patch, we’ll take this patch and put it right over the hole, and begin to feather that out. And trust me, you got to hurry because it dries quickly. So some patch kits will actually come with some light plastic screen. That goes over the patch itself, and helps you when you put the drywall surface on to finish the surface. So I finished sanding, and I’m going to use a rug, to wipe off all of that dry wall dust. Remember those big holes when we started this repair. Big one in the middle and all those others, that’s how you do a dry wall patch.
