Here today to bring to you our number one ab exercise, it is incredibly effective. It works very well for ourselves and our clients. It's called The Dumbbell Push and Punch.
What we are going to do is, we are going to take depending on your fitness level. I am going to take a 15 pound dumbbell, if you are a little bit inexperienced with strengthened ab techniques, maybe an eight or a ten pounder, if you are more advanced maybe a 15 or a 20.
I am going to get down on the floor, we're going to lock our toes underneath a couple of heavy dumbbells, 50 pound dumbbells, to give us a nice rock solid base. We're going to start down here on the floor, we're going to put our left hand up and the dumbbell in our right hand, we are going to focus on pulling and starting a chainsaw with the left hand.
As we pull this I am driving the dumbbell slowly to the ceiling. I got most of my weight on my right shoulder blade. Pull and punch! As you pull the left side of your core comes down on the floor, as you punch, the right side of your core goes up towards the ceiling. So we get a crisscross feeling.
Drive that back elbow down to the floor, what a nice unique feeling, giving me some pulses, without pausing the bun, six, and five, and four, and three, and two, and one.
Alright, give me 12 to 15 reps, find a weight that gets very challenging in the 12 to 15 rep range. Obviously take a little bit of break, catch your breath. Switch it over and do the left side. One reason why this technique is so effective is that 90 to 95% of ab techniques that people do are in this minded motion, leg raises, crunches and sit-ups. So, when you can work your core in this way. This moves in here from side-to-side, it's such a unique feeling that it's very easy to stimulate new muscle growth.
So, that's our ab technique of the month. I want you to practice it and utilize it. Do two or three sets a couple of times a week, it will stay really fresh for two or three weeks.
