Diagonal Warm-up
Okay boys, in this first exercise we are just going to continue the warm up, but now with the ball, and what I want you to do is, to dribble the ball across the grid, towards the person who is opposite of you on the diagonal, and just do a takeover with that next person in line.
Four players moving with a ball at a time, and play. Good and what you see here from the boys is that, it's very confusing, very crowded, but they can work on their individual dribbling skills at the same time.
If they see a big space, that they can go through quickly with the ball, they just accelerate and get through that space. No problem. Then they are executing a takeover, either right foot to right foot, or left foot to left foot. So inside of the right, to inside of the right, or inside of the left to inside of the left, and that first touch they want to take it out of their feet at speed, and accelerate towards the target. Accelerate quickly towards the target. Big touch out of your feet, and accelerate.
This is an excellent job, it's the continuation of the one without the ball and there you saw one of the players take an indirect route to his target, because it was too crowded to go straight. Players are encouraged to go straight, as quickly as possible, or if that's not available, to go around and find space to get to where they want to go and rest.
