Welcome back to pro photo insights and for this video again I’m in the middle of the field. And as you can see this is my scarecrow which I have made and it is lovely. And what we’re going to do a lot of fun things tonight its October means Halloween, so we’re going to do about fun shoot and I got flash set in the back of the pumpkin head. , with a radio slave trigger on the camera. And I’m going to mix a bit of flash to give some amount of lightings and it’s getting quite dark and that is why I want. We also made use of torches and a little bit of candle torch. I’ve been using before in another video we’re the star was stuff sort, of thing. And I’m really using this much to paint in a little bit my seem with the scarecrow. And just see what nice effects we can get with that, so we’ll wait for the light to drop and it’s now I think half past six so another half an hour. We’re going to stop shooting and see what we will get.
Hi and welcome back this Simon Plant from prophotoinsights.net and this is our 4th episode that can run quite quickly. And you’d would probably notice from the location video that’s improved quite a bit. As I mentioned before we have a few problems with the other video camera and that’s being dispatch to the bin. And so that’s gone we’re hoping no to be able to purchase a new camera that’s what we will need. And in a mean time, we’ve borrowed, one so I hope that will continue to improve over the next few episodes.
And so this shot was done on October and it means Halloween and I decided just mot go out and have bit of self indulgence fun really. And I don’t always get out to shoot much from south I probably would be very busy with work for clients, shooting getting commissions and so forth. I haven’t much got out and have a bit of fun so we decided to get a good opportunity. And you saw in the video we basically lit this with a very small flash gun. This is mounted on the back of the pumpkin head and fired remotely with a pocket wizard remote. And we also had a rather large one million candled torch which we just use to paint in a bit of light here and there in the scene. And generally I just had a bit of fun with that I think this just go to show that you don’t have tons of expensive flash gear to use in these shots. You can basically use anything really as long it’s powerful enough for the exposure you’re using. And you see that’s just the really the reason behind to do this just fun.
And the exposure on these, I started at the beginning of the evening shooting a hundred ISO. And the very last frames we’ve shot it was very dark and but we shot this a t400 ISO. So we just had a workable exposure range for the shot. And I basically breached the exposures and I started off with my normal exposure for the scene. This was about a quarter of the second F-16 that’s the early shots. And I basically did several exposures couple about over expose and a couple on that. And just so we had them a few variations to work with that we need to. And towards the end of the evening is I’ve said we‘re using more like 30 seconds at F8 for our last shots. And the focal lens 36 millimeter. So you want to get to you why because obviously in would make the scarecrow mush smaller in shots. And that 36 millimeter was a good compromise for that.
And over all the shots took about an hour to do. Better I’m on to do making videos as well so that’s obviously such exaggerated a little bit. And but we just wait for the light to drop enough for what we wanted and just capture motion really. And I’m playing around so, let’s say it’s good to get out and experiment and when you’re using torches or anything painting a light then it can be very unpredictable. And no terms it’s going to be the same really so what we’ll next we’re going to take to the camera raw processor for the image. Ant then we’ll move on to some re-touching.
