HOW TO PICK THE KENSINGTON LOCK.
I am here at a Euro Conference and doing some lock pick workshops, and many people ask me about this Kensington locks. If you don't know what a Kensington lock is, it's a lock to secure your laptop, so you can lock it somewhere, and can go away for a little while, and explicitly a very strong lock. The company even puts an insurance on your computer if it gets stolen. But this is only if it is done with force. Some evidence is there that people actually broke the lock. This is not what I am going to do. I heard a technique about where people use a pen to impression the lock and open it, and I tried it with a few pens and I couldn't get it to open. So I was thinking of another way to do it, and I fiddled around with it for two hours, and then I came up with the right solution, and that is, use the carton of a roll of toilet paper as a tool.
So what you actually do is, you cut out the piece of this carton, then you roll it around a pen or something around, so that you get this nice --so actually you are miniaturizing the roll of toilet paper. So you turn it around the pen, then what you do is, you keep it in place with some tape, and for this I use the always handy, gaffer tape. So I suggest you shouldn't leave without it anyway. The tape holds it in place. Now this has been the hardest part in opening the Kensington lock, because now that you have this roll, you stick it in the lock, you twist it a little bit and open.
