Jim’s Garden Tip is brought you by Zamzows. Nobody knows like Zamzows.
My dad has always said that if you learned to grow your own garden, you’ll never go hungry.
I am going to spend this season to kind of teach you how to grow your own garden so you can enjoy fresh vegetables any time you like. Whether you’re going to grow on a small container on you patio of large acre, it requires a certain amount of planning to get your garden right.
The first thing you have to decide is what kind of vegetables do you want to grow? Contrary to a lot of people’s belief, you can grow just about anything that you want to in this area.
When it comes to planting your garden, you can sow some seed right directly in the soil in you r garden. In the early spring, you can plant your cool season crops like peas or radishes, spinach, lettuce. Most of the green crops you can plant early when the soil temperature is cool. Later on, you can plant warm season plants like beans. They can be planted directly in the soil also but only after the soil has warmed up.
Some crops need to be started in the house or in the green house several weeks before you plant them out into the garden such as eggplants or peppers and tomatoes. I am going to select these Sweet 100 tomatoes because they are easy to grow and they are delicious.
Join me next time and I will show you how to start these Sweet 100 seeds indoors in a pot ready to transplant in your garden in six weeks.
