Kim Hein: For invitations it's about excitement, it's about anticipation. Knowing what the science being is our test tube, take the stopper out and create your own invitation that you just rolled right up and put in there.
Another option is to do something really interactive and fun inside of it. You can put something that they have to use a decoding serum to get the message of the place in the time.
Female Speaker: So that you send the decoding serum along.
Kim Hein: You would, you would send it along. This is grape juice concentrate and we'll just start rubbing it on this and the interaction between the great juice concentrate and the baking soda brings it all straight back up. So you can see what it looks.
Vikki: The idea of making like a secret code, and then making it come out with grape juice, I thought was unique and very inventive. Where would you be using this one?
Kim Hein: Now, those are four goody bags.
Female Speaker: And I believe that a lot of the creative stuff is in the detail.
Kim Hein: Take something that would look really normal, modify it slightly or think of something different that would add to it to kind of make it scientific to make it other worldly, to make it creepy or icky or sticky. You just have to think a little bit more like a kid. Why use a standard bag?
Vikki: This is so creative and out of the box. It's out of the globe.
Female Speaker: Yes, it's out of the globe.
Female Speaker: It's time for some mad scientist, snacks and decorations, I hope those are the decorations.
Kim Hein: We have a couple of snack ideas here too. Things are looking like vertebrae. Just take a flour tortilla, and just put some strawberry preserves on it and slice up some banana and we just roll that right up here and just cut into little fractions, and you just set them on the plate.
What we have here is our little jiggling bloodworms like we use just red gelatin and they are chilling in our refrigerator, just going to take your worm and stick your worm inside of that, and put it back in the refrigerator and it's got nice little flat.
Vikki: I think that her desserts work very unique, afterwards we had some and we thought they were delicious. So they tasted way better than they look.
Kim Hein: What we have here is some glass containers that I found here that we just put in some of your child's toys as specimen, so they just look like that science thing. Took the water and just added some neon food coloring to it.
Female Speaker: Where do you get neon food colors?
Kim Hein: At the grocery store.
Female Speaker: Neon?
Kim Hein: Yeah and the baking oil.
Female Speaker: These are just decorations that kind of base around the classroom and --
Female Speaker: Absolutely.
Female Speaker: We asked our kid expert Chance, to help us with our biggest special effect. Dry ice.
Female Speaker: Hi! Chance.
Vikki: Hi! Chance.
Kim Hein: How are you doing buddy?
Chance: Hi!.
Kim Hein: What we have is just some warm water, and I am going to take them here and I am just going to drop these in there.
Female Speaker: Oh! My Gosh.
Female Speaker: Oh, look at that.
Female Speaker: That's so great.
Kim Hein: There we go, shake it up a little bit, and then drop it in. Drop the whole thing in, there we go. So this is a fun and easy way to decorate. If you do numerous of these in different colors bases, in fact you don't even have to use the neon sticks, you could use food coloring too. As it starts to get a little bit smaller in the smoke, even you can just add some more in.
Female Speaker: That's a great idea.
Kim Hein: I think your friends are going to love it.
