Tracy Gallagher: So we are going to have a slumber party, and you have picked a great theme, fashion. Well you have been born to the right mother, because she want your birthday to be extra special. So we have lot of great ideas. When you think of slumber parties, you think of nice furry, comfy slippers right. So one thing we could do is use these kind of as a vehicle to deliver the invitation. You are invited to Danielle's slumber party, and just simply insert them.
Danielle: This is so cool.
Unknown Speaker: It was such a relief to meet Tracy for the first time and she walked in with this fabulous idea for invitation, something I have never seen before and it was so cute. I think the girls are going to love them.
Tracy Gallagher: And what I thought we can do, is you can embellish them and decorate them with these boas.
Each of the Danielle's friends will get one slipper with their invitation and when they come to the party the first game they will play is find the matching slipper. They are going to deliver them in school, that way you can create some buzz, the girls will get excited about receiving them at school. What do you think? It's good.
Danielle: I think it's really good.
Tracy Gallagher: Good. We just have a lot of work to do before the big event. So since your are the fashion gal why don't you pick which color boa you want on which slipper and then we can start cutting.
Food is the key ingredient for every party and when it's a sleepover, you need plenty for a late night kitchen raid. Cookie cutters could be a mom's best friend when it comes to party treats.
Unknown Speaker: So for food, I thought you could serve the girls something really fun and festive and I do this for my kids' parties all the time. I make sandwiches, and then I cut the sandwich out with a cookie cutter. Once I had a puppy party for my daughter and I used a dog-bone cookie cutter and made it with that thing.
It's really easy, you just pick the shapes, we have a number of different cookie cutters and go with it down and then you put it on a platter and the kids love it. They think it's such a kick because they are not excepting it.
Unknown Speaker: That's very cool. I am just going to pull the crest away.
Tracy Gallagher: You don't even need to use a knife because that cutter is so sharp. Voila.
Unknown Speaker: I like it.
Tracy Gallagher: Look at that.
Unknown Speaker: Tracy that looks like a pancake.
Tracy Gallagher: Well thank you that was my intension. This is actually a birthday cake that's meant to be really, really thin. The reason I want it flat is because I can use these cookie cutters and make individual cakes for the girls.
Unknown Speaker: So each girl will get their own cake.
Tracy Gallagher: Yeah, yeah and Danielle can use food coloring with their frosting and make colorful designs, and pickup the girls' favorite colors and use sprinkles on top. They look really cute together, and colorful all on a platter. And you are going to frost so if doesn't look pretty, now the frosting can hide a lot.
Letting kids have a hand in the party planning not only allows busy moms to share time with their children, but it also lets kids feel proud that they helped.
