Welcome back, today we’ll going to get into potting soil for our home garden. And this pot it’s all out here, I don’t know where they’re picking these, this stuff is junk. Walmart sells this crap and it is over here. This general purpose potting soil, I bought a bunch of these garden basics general purpose potting soil, I found pieces of plastics last year in that potting soil. Stay away from that stuff, it’s junk.
What I like and what I prefer is miracle grow organic choice potting soil, that’s some good stuff. You got chunks of manure all kind of good nutrients in it for your home garden. Well if we will be doing that we will be planting turnip plant and mustard plant for my aunt. I’ve already paid for these, I’ll load it up.
Whenever you’re looking for a potting soil it’s, important to choose the right potting soil. Get some, like I said, some manure something with nutrients so the plants can eat. Give something to plants to nourish them as they grow in your vegetable.
Okay, let’s go get a garden pan. Today we will be tilling my aunt’s little back yard garden. During the summer of this year until the spring, I’m going to plant some squash and some other stuff. I'm going to till this up and plant her some alabaster.
Now we are ready to till her flower garden. And in case some of you have never seen a tiller in action before this is called a front tine tiller; the tines, these things on the front or on top of the motor. Now I prefer a front tine for a couple of reasons. One is the rake of the motor is on top of the tine. It helps to push the tines down into the ground to help break the soil up better. The other kind of tiller is the rear tine. Meaning the tines are back here where the wheels are and you have to push down, use your own body weight and strength to push the tines into the ground. While in the front tine you don’t have to do that. Let’s get this thing fired up. And there we go, that’s one row.
We’ll be going to plant some turnips or mustard greens. We got two different things to plant. This is the first pass we’ll be going to make two maybe three passes to break the soil up real good. So the next step is to take the fertilizer and get the fertilizer and the potting soil ready. Okay we got our potting soil that we bought earlier you just want to spread this evenly like that and we got this other bag here we’ll probably going to cut half of these one.
We’ll be going to put half of this bag in here. Spread this evenly, here we go. Now let’s take some fertilizer, what where using here, this is triple thirteen…three, three, three, thirteen, thirteen, thirteen. What we will be going to do with this is to just take a little of it. Just spread it evenly and then add it all up for this first time. This is just my technique of doing this, now look what we’ve got here. This is one of the reasons why I like a rear tine tiller because that now we have a slot to put our fertilizer application, right here.
