Hi, I am Danny Guild from lick library. Today, I am going to show you how to play rhythm guitar for a 12 barre blues in the key of G with a turn around. It is going to go like this. One, two, three, four, one, and so we are going to start off here sliding from a G9 chord to a G6 chord back to G9. Here are the notes, third fret of the D string, second fret of the G string, third fret of the B string that is a G9 chord. I am going to slide up two frets that will be then be called G6 and back down to G9. That will take up one measure and we are going to start a beat number two. So the first measure would sound like this one, two, three, four, one, we will do that for four measures one, two, three, four, one.
Now we are going to do the same riffs but this time in the key of C. This will take up the next two measures and it will sound like this one, two, three, four, one. So here, I am starting with the C9 chord, 8D, 7G, eight on the B string. Slide it up two frets and back down and we will do that for two measures two, three, four, one the next two measures, which will be measures seven and eight of our 12 barre blues. We will go back to the first riff from the G chord one, two, three, four, one measure number nine will take us to the key of D and it will sound like this. Now for D, we are going to start off with the D9 chord ten fret D strings and nine fret G string. 10th fret on the B string, slide up two frets and back down two, three, four. One measure number ten will take us back to the key of C. Now, we are going to have the turn around in measures 11 and 12 and here is the turn around.
So I am going to strike a G chord, hit fifth fret D string, fourth fret G string, third fret of the top two strings. Now, I am going to play 7G, seven high E back to seven on the G string using pick and my middle finger on the top string there. Slide this back one fret to the sixth fret, play the same riff back to the fifth fret, same riff. Now, strike 4G along with the three and the high E string and then we are going to slide on the seventh fret on the top three strings, back to the fifth fret on the top three strings. So we will end in by playing D6 to D9. So here is that whole turn around once again one, two, three, four, one. So let us try the whole thing from the beginning. We have to kind of imagine the bass and the drums here, one, two, three, four, one, so there is the 12 barre blues in the key of G with a turn around.
