(Guitar Playing)
This next section is called Arpeggio Picking. Before I show you this, I want to explain to you what the definition of the term Arpeggio means. The definition of Arpeggio, it means a chord played in single note form. In other words, this, using C
(Guitar Demo)
That is a chord. If we were going to played in single note form,
(Guitar Demo)
That is an Arpeggio. So Arpeggio is just a broken chord, on string at the time. Now, as far as the order of the strings, you can mix it up any way you want.
(Guitar Demo)
Okay? I am going to give an example though, can you just start it anyways.
(Guitar Demo)
And the chords we are going to be using are C,
(Guitar Demo)
A new chord, which is going to be chord number 17 is called a GaddB. Let me show you how to play that chord first before we move along. How to play your GaddB? You will going to start with the 5th string, 2nd fret, 2nd finger. We have 4th string open, you have the 3rd string open and finally, 2nd string, 3rd fret, 3rd finger.
(Guitar Demo)
Like this or sometimes, what I would like to do, I will use my 4th finger. I think it is going to be a little bit more comfortable. So, let me go through that one more time. We have 5th string, 2nd fret, 2nd finger. 4th string open, 3rd string open and let us use 4th finger to play that 2nd string, 3rd fret.
(Guitar Demo)
So, we have
(Guitar Demo)
Then outer strings, what I mean by that is your 6th string and your 1st string
(Guitar Demo)
Try to stay off those if you can.
(Guitar Demo)
Okay, so the chords we will going to be using to show you the Arpeggio Picking are C,
(Guitar Demo)
GaddB,
(Guitar Demo)
A min
(Guitar Demo)
G
(Guitar Demo)
Once again, C,
(Guitar Demo)
GaddB
(Guitar Demo)
A min
(Guitar Demo)
And finally, G
(Guitar Demo)
The picking pattern or the Arpeggio Pattern, we were going to play
(Guitar Demo)
On the C chord, we were going to be playing 5th string
(Guitar Demo)
4th string
(Guitar Demo)
3rd string
(Guitar Demo)
Then, 2nd, 3rd and 4th string with the up stroke of your pick
(Guitar Demo)
So, when it is all done, it is going to sound like
(Guitar Demo)
Down, down, down, up, up, up, down, down, down, up, up, up.
As we move to the GaddB chord, we were going to play the same strings, same Arpeggio pattern.
(Guitar Demo)
Down, down, down, up, up, up, down, down, down, up, up, up.
Remember, that is starting with the 5th string down,
(Guitar Demo)
4th string down,
(Guitar Demo)
3rd string down,
(Guitar Demo)
Then, 2nd string up pick,
(Guitar Demo)
3rd string up pick,
(Guitar Demo)
4th string up pick,
(Guitar Demo)
So have this,
(Guitar Demo)
Then, we were going to move to the A min chord, same Arpeggio pattern,
(Guitar Demo)
Down, down, down, up, up, up,
(Guitar Demo)
And as we move to the G chord, the only thing that is going to change is we were going to be starting with the 6th string.
(Guitar Demo)
6-5-4, 3-4-5 and same thing
(Guitar Demo)
Down, down, down, up, up, up, down, down, down, up, up, up,
(Guitar Demo)
Good?
So, I am going to do this slowly and then, I will speed it up a little bit for you. Starting to remember, the chords are C,
(Guitar Demo)
GaddB,
(Guitar Demo)
A min,
(Guitar Demo)
And G
(Guitar Demo)
Slowly,
(Guitar Demo)
A little bit quicker,
(Guitar Demo)
