How to Play Acoustic Guitar: Notes Strums

Okay and we call it note strum. You will hear this a lot like in country music (Guitar playing) what we going to be striking. Let us say for example, we are going to take a C chord here which you already know. We are going to strike the 5th string just by itself and we are going to pick a note (Guitar playing) and then strum the string (Guitar playing) through the chord like that (Guitar playing) got it?

Remember, 5th string, play the note (Guitar playing) and then strum the chord. Now, the chords that we are going to be using for me to show these to you are (Guitar demonstration) we are going to do it four times for each chord. So, slowly, it should look like this (Guitar demonstration). Once again (Guitar demonstration) resolve on that C. Now, this technique here, you can do a lot with, you could alternate between strings. So, let us say for instance on the C chord we played first the 5th string, (Guitar playing) then strum the chord and then play the 4th string (Guitar playing) and then strum the chord.

So you have this, (Guitar playing) and you can hear that country sound right there (Guitar playing). Now, as we move to those same chords (Guitar demonstration) right. On the C chord, we are going to use 5th string strum (Guitar playing) 4th string strum, (Guitar playing) as we move to the F chord, we are going to play (Guitar demonstration). As we move to the G (Guitar demonstration) and back to the C (Guitar playing) like that there.

When we put that all together, I am going to do it slow and then I am going to do it quick. First slow, (Guitar playing) and now, this is a little bit quicker (Guitar playing). Now, between the G and the C chord, you might want to do a little walk up, which will start by playing (Guitar demonstration). Now, when you go to that 5th string 3rd fret, go right back into that C chord because you need to be right there.

So, let me do it slow and do it fast (Guitar playing). Here we go (Guitar playing). Now, here it is when you put it all together (Guitar playing) and then with a C chord (Guitar playing) and that is note strum.
