Hi there and welcome to another one of my easy to play videos. If you have not been over to my website yet, you can go over there. It is www.mrmusiccanada.com. It is all one word, www.mrmusiccanada.com. If you have not been there yet, I hope you come and visit me.
Today I am going to teach you a real easy song. I think you will be playing this is probably 15 minutes. So it is called Angel and it is by Sarah McLaughlin. I think she has normally done it in the key of D, but to make it nice and easy is you can run it quickly. I am going to put it right into the key of C for you, okay.
So first of all let us go right through the chords because that is the fun part of this song. I will go through it and then I will start it down and show you how you do it, okay? Here we go.
[Demonstration]
Okay so that is the first part of the chorus. Very simple and what we are going to be doing with our left hand is we are going to be doing, rather than the C chord, we are going to use the notes in the chord but we are just going to use the bottom C and the top C and the G in the middle. We are going to be using that one.
We use our C chord and then we are going to go to an E minor so just grab the two Es again and then grab the D note in the middle, okay? I am going to use that as our E minor chord and then we are going to do the same thing with an F, grab the two Fs and then grab the C in the middle and then when we get to the G, grab the two Gs again and then the B in the middle.
Okay so you should practice those a bit okay, hoping your fingers can stretch that far. There is your C, there is your E, there is your F and your G okay and with our right hand, starts off with “In the arms of an angel.”
[Demonstration]
Just watch my right hand with this part.
[Demonstration]
Okay so just start it off with here.
[Demonstration]
Okay now we are going to put our left hand with it, your C, go up to your E minor. Okay next part goes—
[Demonstration]
Okay, we will do that again.
[Demonstration]
Okay, and we will do it with our left hand with it. We are starting out with our F. Go back down to your C again and up to a G. Okay so do that part one more time. F, up to your C and then up to your G again.
Okay so let us go through that whole section. I hope you should hum it to yourself or sing out loud. I cannot sing so I am just humming in my head, whatever is best for you, “In the arms of an angel,” C chord up to the E up to the F.
[Demonstration]
Okay so that is the first part of it. Okay and then what I am going to do is we will go through it. When you play the chorus twice and the ending is different after each time we go through it so let us do that part, okay?
[Demonstration]
Just the first line, okay so we had end up with a G okay and then we start back to the beginning again.
[Demonstration]
E minor, F, here is a different ending so G and you are down to your C, come up to your F okay and I want to make it sound really good. Just put your F note down here and then your right hand is your F, your G and your C okay? Here is a C note and we will switch to that back and forth, okay so there is just—. Go up to your F with your left hand, you want to play your F, G, and C there.
[Demonstration]
Okay, so that would be the ending of the chorus. Okay, so now that we got that fun part out of the way. So, I like to show you how it starts, okay? You just grab your C, know where your C notes are and I am going to grab a C chord with that right hand okay so it is going to give you your E, G and your C there and I am going to switch our right hand, just move your thumb up from the E up to the F, keep the other two right there, okay and then I go back and forth.
Okay and with our left hand while we are doing that, you are doing both, that is good too, and go up to the F with your left hand. Move that second chord up. Okay, then just end this up.
