So, this is the “Baby Needs Shoes Blues”. And once again, we are going to be doing the 4/4 beat thing with our thumb. But, we are going to be adding some interesting new techniques here. So, it is almost like a piano piece in some ways.
(Music Demo)
Alright, once again, your thumb is still doing the same thing. You are keeping hopefully by now a rock solid time with your thumb. But now, we got a couple of new wrinkles here. First of all, we are doing something called a roll in the beginning. That is why I said that this is almost like a piano piece because it is almost like your right hand is going “weeng!” like that. You are doing a quick
(Music Demo)
Like that.
To do a roll, in this case, you have your middle finger on the first string, your index on the 2nd and your thumb on the 4th and just do a quick
(Music Demo)
It takes a little bit of practice to get that nice and smooth. It is in context. It sounds like
(Music Demo)
Let us try that again.
(Music Demo)
So you see, the thumb is still going
(Music Demo)
The same thing here,
(Music Demo)
Then, we are going to go up and just do a nice walk down of the same chord position here. It is an E7 chord. You go
(Music Demo)

(Music Demo)
And my thumb comes up and rubs this three-note chord
(Music Demo)
And then back to the base note. So, that is the middle index thumb
(Music Demo)
The chord down in one fret, it is the same thing.
(Music Demo)
Back to a regular old E chord,
(Music Demo)
Hammer
(Music Demo)
So, that is a regular old E7 chord. Watch this. Watch my left hand. We are going
(Music Demo)
It takes a little practice to get that phrasing because once again, you are dealing something off the syncopation there
(Music Demo)
