Now when we do this exercise and when you look at your fingering chart. I want you to do not only the 1-2-3-4. First we are going to do them as quarter notes. Remember that is, every time you hear a click. Click, click, click, click you are doing a one note. So that is a quarter note. So that is a quarter note. Then we are going to do for the right hand 8 notes. So not only are we going to do 1-2-3-4, we are going to do the next one which is 1-2-3-4.
And once again if you remember I am placing my hand firmly in the middle of the back of the neck. And I am pressing with my fingers so that I am getting the most notes for my money. So if you do not hear the note sounding clear. Like that, are you hearing sound like that? You are going to fast okay. So 80 bits per minute is about right here. 1-2-3-4, playing on a lot of records at 80 bits per minute, so kind of going to ___ for it okay, so it might appear slow. But at 80 bits we are also going to do the eight note which are.
So that is a little bit faster. And then once we start, when we move on. We are going to eventually do sixteenth note which it sound like this.
I do not mean to scare you. But what I mean to show you the importance of time. So that if you can play it slowly and play it correctly. The rest of it will come naturally. You would not even have to wonder why you are getting faster. Because you are getting faster, okay. So I want you to do all of these fingerings up to the twelfth fret. And when you start, when you move from, we are starting on the first fret to the do the ones, so all of the ones start on the first fret, okay. When we start to twos, the twos start on the start on the second fret if you can remember every one of the increments on the base is a fret, okay. So the twos start on the second fret, so it would be 2-1-3-4, and then we would continue to move upwards towards that twelfth fret, okay. That is starting on the twos, where do you think we would start the threes. The third fret, okay. So we go 3-1-2-4-3-1-2-4-3-1-2-4-3-1-2-4 and we are going to do that same regimentation. All the way down to the twelfth fret. Now if you can get to the twelfth fret at 80 bits per minute. On all of these fingerings, you will have than about an hour exercise. If you just do quarter notes and eight notes. The quarter notes are right with the click and the eight notes are subdividing them in half. Which would be 1-2-3-4 and -1-2-3-4 and -1-2-3-4 and 1-2-3-4 and, okay. Now we left out the last one which is the fourth finger. Where do you think we would start that on? The third fret? No. The second fret? No. The fourth fret because if you start on any fret but the fourth fret. You can not do the exercise. So, we are going to start on the fourth fret and go 4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3.
That is 4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3 and we want to go all the way up to the twelfth fret. Now you may think this is boring. But it is not. Because this is going to make you so much better, I guaranty you. I can guarantee you that that will happen. And the I-cons of rock will guarantee that if you do this exercises everyday for at least two moths. You will see a lot of improvements.
