Okay, now when you download my chart from icons of rock you’ll notice that besides 1, 2, 3, 4 we have 1, 2, 4, 3…1, 3, 4, 2. We have 1, 3, 2, 4. We have 1, 3, 2, 4. We have 1, 4, 2, 3 and we have 1, 4, 3, 2. You though you are getting away easy but no. You have to do both of those exercise that we talked about on with all of those fingers. So first you want to start with 1, 2, 3, 4 then you want to switch to 1, 2, 4, 3 and then you want to switch to 1, 3, 4, 2 then 1, 4, 2, 3 and then 1, 4, 3, 2.
If you noticed every one of those patterns that I played with my hand they sounded differently. And one of the things you will know once we start to get in to learn about the notes is that every pattern that you will play musically has a way to play it by knowing how your hand is suppose to be (Demonstration). So, I know that is 1, 4, 3, 2 (Demonstration). It does not matter where I play it on the base (Demonstration). I was sitting in the hotel room in Atlantic City and on the road with a band and Steve came up with the guitar player so he is the one who gave him the finger chart. His finger chart has every finger that you could possibly play on the base. Once you download it from the icons of rock you will have it too and then you will be able to—like I said if you practice you will be able to get more fluid on your instrument.
One of the things that is cool about this chart it has every possible finger on every possible string if you could start with first one finger or if you start with the second finger. It has all the finger if you start with the third finger, if you start with the fourth finger it has all the fingers. So, therefore we have been doing 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2 , 3, 4 and then I told you that if you play 1, 4, 2, 3 you get some kind of sound that sounds like hey that almost sounds like music. So you go 1, 4, 2, 3, 1, 4, 2, 3, 1, 4, 2, 3, 1, 4, 2, 3 okay. In the same reference if you did 2, 1, 3, 4, 2, 1, 3, 4 (Demonstration). Everything that you play has some type of fingers of 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3 (Demonstration) that’s 4, 1, 2, 3 (Demonstration). So this chart, once again remember we are starting out just going 1, 2, 3, 4, (Demonstration). Now, if you do this at 80 beats per minute times four strings if you just do 1, 2, 3, 4 that is 32 minutes. That’s without taking a break. One good thing if can go from when you first start the exercise at the bottom to the 12th fret without taking a break and playing in perfectly in time with your clicker—our metronome you will be getting the most workout—the best work out that you can possibly give both your left hand and your right hand. I call with the right hand doing once again walking the dog because your playing your alternating fingers and it is kind of like walking the dog or walking are going to be.
