Okay, and when you are looking at my hands just eliminate looking at the last string, know that fifth string is the B string on the five string bass. But it does not apply to you. In all of these bass line will be on the four strings and you will be able to play them, okay? So, one of the things when we were doing our exercise was learning what the notes are. So we are going to move up to the third fret to the note G and we are going to begin by doing quarter notes as exercise and we are going to have, use some kind of pattern that you can play again. So that you will have an access to the beat and you can know when you get off. Because you will hear it right away when you get off and it would not groove, not unless that is what you like.
Some people like to play off the beat and they develop things that are really different. Some are the, more reggae bass lines are really off beaten. They are really nice to listen to. So, if your _____ is playing off the beat, do it. But right now, we are going to learn how to play it with the beat. And like I said, I have had along career doing the things that I do. So, I advised you to hang in there, okay?
So, if we hear this beginning beat which is a basic two and four beat on the drums, I should be able to play quarter notes with it on the G string and you will hear how that goes. [Music Playing] so the drum beat is playing a basic beat, one, two, one, two, three, four, [Music Playing] basically all I am playing is the G string, _____ on the E string, the note G, and what I am doing is playing quarter notes [Music Playing] and you could hear it has kind of real throbbing, heart throbbing, get to the beat kind of, get to the pulse kind of beat, kind of like your heart beat.
This by the way, this drum beat is set at a 104 beats per minute. So, [Music Playing] okay, so, what I was doing there was playing quarter notes to the beat of 104 beats per minute. And you could see just by playing quarter notes, it is got to groove, okay? We are going to do it one more time and I am going to do the exercise that I showed you how to do and I am going to make it make sense, okay? [Music Playing] one, two, ready begin [Music Playing].
Okay, so therefore, you saw, we can have a little fun, I mean it was not the coolest song but letting still it made sense, you know what I am saying? So, I am going to play that same beat and this time I am going to play eight notes again instead [Music Playing].Now, once again, that is the same thing when we did the, we subdivided the quarter notes, we went one and two, and three, and four, and one, and two, and three, and four, and, so, we are double it up with what we did with right hand, still doing that one, two, three, four, see I told you, it is very important that you learn that very basic stuff but already we are kind female: grooving. That was kind of like cooler. So, now let us do what sixteenth notes would be which would be _____ difficult [Music Playing].
Okay, now, remember what I told you was really important is to make sure you see how all my notes came out clean and crisp, that is because I put it in a time with this exercises, so that I am able to play sixteenth notes which is subdividing it by four. I am able to play it 104 beats per minute and I could play sixteenth note, okay?
A lot of music that is played right now on the rock side is 130 and faster, some of crunchy stuff was 160, that is really fast. So, you can see you got to build-up your hand, and your right hand and left hand strength so that you are bale to do all this.
