Hammering and pull off. Key importance to playing any types of solos (guitar playing). What a hammering means? Actually, let me start by saying that, the technical name for this are called flirt. Use your flirting one note into another, but in moderate day guitar playing, you called them hammering and pulls. Which I think is a good descriptive name in how to play these techniques.
Hammering, we are actually going to only be picking one note, but we are going to be actually play two notes, (guitar playing). How we are going to do that, okay for example we are going to start with the third strings, fifth fret. We are going to be actually pick that note and then homerun with our second finger to the third string sixth fret, I mean we will straight that again, (guitar playing).
You see you are only playing one note with your peg, but you actually producing two note by hammering with your second finger unto the fret above it, (guitar playing). Now think about there as you are going to be aggressive, just like if you are in hammering nail into the wall, you certainly would not give it some peach and give it some power, (playing guitar).
So rather than playing, (guitar playing) you can play (guitar playing). See that, I am picking about half those notes, (guitar playing). Now the pull off the exact opposite of that rather than hammering on (guitar playing), we are pulling off. It is a little bit tricky here, but it is pretty easy to do. All you got to do is the no venture going to be pulling off to you. You have to branch that down and keep that nice in tight. So for example, we are going to use the third string, once again fifth fret.
Now we are going to start on the third strings, sixth fret with the second finger. We are going to pick that one note and what you have to do, you have to keep that first finger really tight. And then, pull down slightly and flick in and out with motion because if you will to just lift of your finger off to there the volume between the first note and second the note will not be the same. It is kind of sound funny like (guitar playing).
See that, I barely heard that. But if you use a technique that I showed you of pulling every slightly downward keeping that first finger really well place on that third string, fifth fret. You are going to get, (guitar playing). I go way to practice both these techniques, it just simply like this. Let us say we are going to do some hammering on. I am only hitting the first note, (guitar playing).
Then use your second and third fingers, so you will just not going to deal with one of your fingers or two of your fingers. You are going to deal with all of them, (guitar playing) and then your third and fourth finger, (guitar playing). You wanted to pretend like you get a little lie balls on the end of your fingers and improper form. Try as best you can and to always keeps of the lie ball looking right down at the finger board. So your hand technique is like this, your left hand rather than guys all times flattering, that is just a poor technique. Keep it low and nice and tight, (guitar playing). That is your hammering exercise, (playing guitar).
And the pull of exercise, you are going to do just the opposite. We are going to pull off, (guitar playing) starting with the second finger until the first finger. Remember we are only playing one note, but we are producing two by the techniques I was showing you. Then your third finger and second finger, (guitar playing) and finally your fourth and your third, (guitar playing).
Remember, the most important thing is to make the volume of the second note, the same as the volume of the first note.
