Walt here and I did Jingle Bells the other day and today, we are going to be working on Deck the Halls. All of the questions that you have would be in the link to the left that I will show you several chords, couple more tutorials that will help you out. The only chords that we will be using in this song are D, B minor, A, A7, E, and G and that is it. Let me play this song then I will explain it to you. So here it is, Deck the Halls.
Okay, that is it. So there is just your chords where like I said, just D, A, A7, B minor, G, and E and that is it. But real quick, when you go and play just like I said when you are playing Jungle Bells is that when you go to play it, if you have any trouble playing it, just play simple quarter notes on this side on the showing patterns. So instead of going like this, do not go and get crazy with this hand. Just play the chords plus it will sound better anyway. Okay, you do not have to do anything crazy with this hand. Also with your left hand, just really make sure that the whole time that you are playing that you are very lose. Like here, watch my hand right here. You know, I am not going crazy. I am not bending it or doing anything crazy. I am just very relaxed. And that when you are relaxed playing, then you become relax when you are singing and then vice versa.
Also, what I said with the Jingle Bells tape is that if you are having trouble singing and playing at the same time, well have your friends sing it and then you jam out on the chords or vice versa. You sing and have your friend play. Well if your friend cannot sing that well like me, I am not a good singer, if your friend cannot sing that well, have him play the actual melody line and then you play the chords. And then it will be like a duo. If you are having a lot of trouble playing this one part like you are having a lot of trouble going from your D to your G or from your E7 to your A or something, the best way to do it is just do not keep playing the verse over and over and over again. Just forget the song for a today or two because remember, you have four weeks to learn a song. So just forget the song for a today or two, whatever and then just play those two or three chords. Say you are having trouble going from your D to your G, and from your E7 to you A7. Just for like a week or not week, just for about a day or two, just play those four chords.
