So, as you have noticed, since we have been playing together so far, it has been just using the sticking patterns on the hi hat. Now, what I want to move on to next is doing the sticking patterns on the right cymbal.
What is great about the right cymbal, this is really a cool cymbal. It is really fun to work with because it has a lot of different tones to it. Now, the right cymbal, you have the bell. It sounds something like this.

Depending on how or where you are hitting with your stick, you can hit it with the bead of the stick which is the tip [demonstration] or you can heat it right below the bead, right there and it gives a deeper sound. More of a fuller sound. So, here is the bead now and I hit it with the other sticks so you can hear the difference of the tone.
[demonstration]
And then, there is the middle and outer part of the right cymbal which had different tones. See if you could hear the difference between the middle and the outer part of the cymbal.

Now, that again with the bead but you can also hit it with the flat of the stick.
[demonstration]
Depending on what style of music you are playing or what you are going for with the sound of the music. So, that is what is a little cool about the cymbals, the different tones to it.
Now, it is going to be the same thing. I want to show you the basic beat again but we will incorporate the right cymbal and just listen for the different sounds of the tone or right on the bell, the middle and the outer part of the cymbal and then alternating them between the bell in the middle of the cymbal that I am playing.
[demonstration]
So, that is the different sound on the right cymbal. And another good thing to practice when you are playing on the right cymbal, when you are playing 4/4 time, just the four counts that I measure, click the hi hat over here on beats one, two, three, four as you are playing. So again, you are operating and practicing both your arms and feet, all four of the ___. So here we go. What I am going to do while am clicking that while I am playing is hit the hi hat cymbal on the end of the four when I am playing the right cymbal. Ready?
