How to Play Drums: Paradiddles
Now moving on to the third rudiment that I am going to show you today which is called the Paradiddle. Now, the Paradiddle, a good way to remember this one, I will speak it to you with the sticking pattern first and then I will tell you another way to remember it. First is, right, left, right, right, left, right, left, left. That can be spoken. The easy way to remember it is pa-ra-did-dle-pa-ra-did-dle, like that. So, I am going to demonstrate it on the drums so that you can see in here what that sounds like.

And that is the Paradiddle. And again, the importance of playing those, I know that in the beginning, it is a little redundant and a little boring in playing. But again, it helps you develop the technique in your sticking when actually playing the drum. That helps you increase your strength and endurance in playing, building the muscles in the hand and it is a great warm up tool. So, just stick with them, practice them and you will be playing them faster than I was.
