This is the intro for the song Erotomania played by Dream Theater. It starts in the 9th fret 3rd string and 7th fret on the 1st and 2nd string. Play the same triad on the 5th fret of the 3rd string and 3rd fret of the 2nd and 1st string. And play the 6th fret on the 3rd and 1st string and the 4th fret on the 2nd string. And end with the same triad but on the 7th fret of the 3rd string and 5th on the 2nd ad 1st strings. So that entire intro would sound like this.
The first riff begins on the 2nd fret of the 6th string. So you're playing 2, 3, 4, 5 on the 6th string, Then 2, 5, 4 on the 5th string and end on the 3rd fret of the 6th string.
Repeat that same phrase, but starting on the 4th fret and playing an open E first. It’s exactly the same fingering on the 2nd fret, move to the 4th fret. That first hit an open 6th string.
It’s important to listen to a song to get the feeling of the rhythm. The only time you don’t play the 6th string, 6th open string is in the first phrase. Open E again. Repeat that eight times, four times on the 4th, four times on the 4th.
The next phrase starts on the 7th fret. Play an open E. 9 – 8 on the 4th string. 7 on the 5th, 6 on the 4th. 4 – 5 on the 5th, 7 – 6 on the 4th. Then 3 on the 6th string and 5 – 3 – 1 on the 4th, 5th, and 6th strings. That entire phrase sounds like this. Open E again.
Here's the different part. Play 3 – 5 – 7 on the 4th string and 5 on the 5th string. Then 1 – 3 – 5 on the 4th string and 3 on the 5th string. And finally 4 – 3 – 2 on the 5th string. So that entire second phrase would sound like this.
Now the first and second phrase together would sound like this. Then repeat the first phrase again.
Then for the final part play 10 – 12 – 13 on the 1st string and 10 on the 2nd string. Then 8 – 10 – 11 on the 1st string and 8 on the 2nd string. And then 11 – 10 on the 2nd string and 11 on the 3rd string.
