Hi I’m Gene Wang Fantasy Football writer for the Washington post and
washingtonpost.com. Welcome to my video on how to play fantasy football. Now if
you’re anything like me you have football on the brain 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Even when it’s not football season I’m watching the NFL network, NFL Live and ESPN
and reading the Washington Post Football Coverage everyday to keep up with the latest
news and just to get my fix.
You are also probably one of those football fans growing up who said to him self “you
know what I have to be the general manager of a professional team. I could be in the war
room on drafting with the owner with the other front office personnel with the coaching
staff deciding the future of the franchise. Then you probably convince yourself that you
could coach the team too right. I mean why not all you have to do is set your line up each
week and if there are injuries make the right substitutions. Well here’s your chance to
prove it. Welcome t the world of Fantasy Football.
Fantasy Football is a phenomenon that has been sweeping the football community for
many years now some estimates have as many 20 million involved in Fantasy Football
and in Las Vegas thousands of dollars await your deep season on fantasy football but you
don’t have to be a gambler to participate your fantasy football. All you need are a healthy
love of the sport, some friends or computer and some fantasy football magazines and
you’re basically good to go so whether if you’re a newcomer or a person who’s already in
a league and looking for some tips in how to set up a winning team, you’ve come to the
right place.
In this series of videos I’ll show you how to start and enjoying league how to draft your
team, how to set your line up each week. The different type of leads you can join and
maybe most important the top 5 players of each position this year. One thing I should
mention on a personal safety note you will be entering your information into websites
that keeps score of league and keep track of who’s leading each week. Use common
sense when doing this as you would when you enter your personal information in any
website and also keep in mind you probably need a thick skin if you have friends like
mine because they will harass you and torment you on every move you make and every
pick you make during your fantasy drafts.
I have 20 years of experience in sports writing and sports editing at the Washington Post
many of those years devoted to covering professional football and playing and writing
about fantasy football so strap on the chin strap, tighten on those cleats and let’s get
going.
