Hey guys! It’s Will Kriski here, man. Today, we’re going to be doing some really crazy harmonics. As you know, I did another video on the pinch harmonics. It’s hard to make a ‘how to do’ without making a face.
As you know, there are natural harmonics at 12th fret, 12-7-5. You can get them in a lot of places. If you lightly touch the string, pick really fast [Demonstration] if you do it on the 5th string A string. So that’s kind of the cool way. You might have not known that. It’s fairly common.
One thing that isn’t quite as common is what I did.
[Demonstration]
So what I’m doing is in my case, I do this a lot, is I pick the 5th string—5th fret 5th string to the 3rd fret, 2nd fret, so I’m hammering on the 5th fret, pull off to the 3rd, pull off to the 2nd. I’d do it really fast.
[Demonstration]
Then what I do with my right hand is I use the side of my hand like I do with palm muting and I’d lightly touch the strings as I move it along. I’m touching probably three or four strings, but I'm getting that A string, which is the 5th string.
[Demonstration]
So it looks pretty cool. You can get a lot of speed with that. You got to be able to do the pull-offs though really fast. You can do it on other strings like the six string. So if we zoom in, I’m going to just move in here, you got to be able to hammer that down on the 5th fret. Now this hand, I just slide it along this string, touching it lightly. You’ll find certain spots where you can get a good harmonic.
Alright! So have fun with that. It’s good to do it in something like A. So yeah, try that out. Let me know how it goes, man. See you, dude!
