The next one is a free stroke. You are going to use the free stroke for more arpeggio picking. What is arpeggio? The definition of arpeggio is a chord played single note at the time.
In other words, let say this is chord—a C chord. (Demonstration) This would be a C chord arpeggio. (Demonstration) Whenever you are doing arpeggio picking, you are not going to use a rest stroke. You will use a free stroke.
Free stroke involves—instead of in the rest stroke where you are rested on the adjacent string, this time we are not going to do that. We are going to freely go through the string. (Demonstration)
The easiest way I can explain this is putting your finger up towards the palm of your hand. Do not touch any of the other strings, just that one. If you were to play it on maybe the 2nd or 3rd string, you would do the thing. (Demonstration) Remember alternate those fingers. (Demonstration)
Once again, I am going to use the chords A minor—our old friends—F and E. The fingers of the right hand that I am going to be using, is thumb, index, middle, ring. I am going to go through chords using arpeggio. (Demonstration)
Now, as far as the choice of strings, it does not really matter. You could play 5th string, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st, or 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd. Remember, flamenco is about freedom. Do what sounds good to you. Make it sound like you want it to sound. These songs are going to be your songs and your interpretations. (Music playing)
Now, what I am going to do play around with those chords little bit. We will start making a Rumba pattern (Music playing) Then, an arpeggio.
