How to Play Golf: Close-Eyed Putting

Drill # 6: Eyes Closed Putting.

I found that one of the best drills to develop feel is to putt with your eyes closed. As strange as that may sound, what it does is it takes away the mechanics of the swing and you visualized where the cup is.

Get up over the ball, get set-up like you always do. Look at the hole then close your eyes. Get up over the ball, visualize what you want to do, close your eyes, make a good putt. Did I hear that drop in? That is what you want to do when you putt. You want to listen for the sound. Closing your eyes gives you a great feel for the pot. This is a great drill, you should work on it. You probably want to get a little closer and then work your way back out to where I was putting from, but it is great, great potting drill to develop feel and consistency in your motion.

Do not turn your head to follow the shot. Listen to the ball dropping into the cup. Confidence is a key to good putting.
