Fundamental #2: Swing Motion.
(Music Playing)
The next thing that we need to learn or the second fundamental in good putting is that we have a Pendulum Motion. And that means that we are going to use the club to take it back in this type of pendulum motion using our shoulders to initiate the putting stroke.
You know, if you seen a grandfather’s clock and you remember the pendulum, on that clock, it goes back as far as it comes forward. And that is the type of motion we need in the putting stroke.
We do not want very short back swing and then a long forward swing, we want the same motion going back as we have going forward.
If you can think of the entire putting stroke just like a pendulum and have a smooth back swing and a smooth forward swing, the same length going back, the same length coming forward, you are going to start to develop a very consistent putting action.
Once you start developing that, you are going to make a lot more putts.
Pudding pointers for swing motion:
1. Swing the club in a pendulum motion.
2. Use the shoulders to initiate the swing movement.
3. The length of the sway will vary with the length of putt, but the tempo is the same for all putts.
