Let us take a closer look at F chord. What we want to do is actually put our first finger and lay it across the first fret of the first three strings. On F Major, we are actually going to put or second finger on the second fret of the third string, and we are going to put our fourth finger or the third, whichever is more comfortable for you, on the third fret of the fourth string. This is our F note. Here we go with F Major. (Demonstration)
To switch from F Major to F Minor, we simply lift up our second finger. We are barring the first three strings with our first finger, so you want to make sure you have even pressure to cross all three strings. Of course, we play the fourth string, our F note. Here we go with our F Minor. (Demonstration)
F seventh is a lot different. We are going to actually move our first finger to the third fret of the fourth string, which is our F note, and then we are going to move our second finger to the fourth fret of the third string, third finger to the fourth fret of the first string, and then our fourth finger to the fifth fret of the second string. Here we go with F seventh. (Demonstration)
