Because I want to show you cool little thing, I want to get the note to go on off, on off kind of by using the controls of the guitar and in order to do that, you need to have a guitar that has at least two pick ups but a separate volume control for each pick up. My other guitar I have been using through out this song has one volume control that works for all the pick up selections. So, if you have a guitar for this, this Les Paul has a volume and tonal control for the neck pick up volume until in control for the bridge pick up and that is you are going to need to make this effect work. And the effect I am talking about is this, so that last note of the solo is you are bending that E note up on IIIm to this G right?
(Guitar Demo)
And I was showing you to just keep continually pick it but it kind a sounds cool if you did this
(Guitar Demo)
Okay, and that is cool and then if your guitar is loud enough, put the guitar next to and you will get some feedback during that and that is really cool. So, what is going on? How am I getting it to do that? Well, it is pretty simple, what I am doing is I am using the pick up select to switch as a kill switch. So, what I am doing is I am playing out of the back pick up which is the bridge pick up
(Guitar Demo)
And that volume is fully on.
(Guitar Demo)
There, what you are going to do is take your neck pick up,
(Guitar Demo)
Take that volume and turn it off, okay. So, here is the neck pick up
(Guitar Demo)
Okay? Now, this volume so basically this pick up no volume, it is a zero
(Guitar Demo)
This pick up
(Guitar Demo)
Is on ten so when I switch between
Man 2: They are eleven, there are from Nigel.
Man 1: Nigel will have it that on eleven.
Man 2: That is him.
Man 1: So, when I switch between the pick ups by operating the switch, it is going from a pick up on to off so it is acting like a kill switch and that is “a-a-a-a-a” sound because it is going volume no volume, volume no volume. What I am doing is I am really fast up down, up down, up down when the pick up selector switch. See, but I could not do that on a guitar unless I have a separate volume control for each pick up, right?
It is probably not the best thing to do for the switch but again it is rock and roll baby. So, we break the switch put it on what in there. So, what you are going to do is you are going to bend that note and keep it bend a IIIm
(Guitar Demo)
Now, while you are bending it,
(Guitar Demo)
See I am working that switch.
(Guitar Demo)
See, it goes to volume no volume, volume no volume. So, but you have to do it faster than that. Get it the sound like this so start it where obviously there is volume,
(Guitar Demo)
And I am actually a kind of fast at the end so, holding the note, muting out the rest of the note with my fret hand and hitting that volume control on off, on off now by in control but pick up select here. And you could do that, like I said again as long as you have separate volume controls for your pick up. It is kind of a cool thing. I thought maybe you might like it so try.
