You know how to play your chords; you know a couple skills, now let us look how we are going to apply and mix up skills with our chords.
Our first chord pattern that we learned was in the key of G major. So, we are going to do the Major pentatonic scale with this and we are going to start with our G, the root note. We also have our octave G, the first G on the third fret of the sixth string. A G with the octave higher is the fourth string, fifth fret. Our third G in the scale is the third fret of the first string.
When you are practicing and playing along, switching between rhythm and lead, you want to try to start on your root note and definitely end on your root note, for beginners.
Let us just play along. Let us have a free-for-all and let us do it. Let us have some fun. Let us start with our G Major chord. We are going to strum it just like we did on our first chord exercise, and then we are going to put a couple of lead patterns on there in the Major pentatonic scale. (Demonstration)
Now we will go to our second chord exercise in the key of A Minor, and we are going to add our A Minor pentatonic scale. We will probably have a bit of fun with this one. (Demonstration)
