So, after the usual video, here we go on to the tutorial that some of you have asked me to do and here it is. For the rhythm part, I suggest the usual talk about the amplifier but if you are using a correct amplifier or one that gets close to the AC/DC sound, I think you maybe willing to put your volume knob at around eight so you do not have too much brightness in your rhythm. Of course, I will do the part of Angus Young, which is slightly different from Malcolm’s.
So, we will start like this and it goes like. I hope it is good enough for you to see what I am doing here. It is not really a mystery at all. Probably you have seen my other tutorials so you already know about these chords. This is a G. That is C. Before we go to that, I would like to talk of course about the way you are playing, your timing on this one. You know how much I stress about correct timing. This is something that there is a bell that it is ringing there and giving you this kind of slow timing. It is a big powerful thing and it is very important that you keep those notes. You let them sustain for just the right amount of time that is necessary to make it work.
I am trying to do it the same way they do it but the best way to get it right of course is to keep on listening to the record many times until you get it in your head. You see where I put the accents. Now G, D and now back to this C that you are just moving from the C note here on my index finger and my pinky that is actually pushing the G notes on the D fifth fret. I will leave the pinky there just moving my index back half tone. Then the eight note like that.
Now, here goes the verse. Actually, both Malcolm and Angus play the same part on left turn right guitar and that will be this one. Let us see this into detail and we will look at Angus part more in detail. This right part is played by Angus rhythm guitar and by Malcolm on the left. But there is another guitar that Angus often plays maybe even more than one at times which is centered in the center position of your stereo range and that is different and we will look at it. I mean especially in the beginning of the song you are going to hear that part there that might interest you. But now, let us get into this part first. So, can you see and I hope you can. You should be able to see that. My fingering at times I do it in a way and other times, I do it another way even in between the song so I do not really care about that on this one. Most importantly get the notes right and the timing right hopefully and that is.
You see, I am just removing my pinky. I am basically pressing the E string on the fifth fret that is an A and then A string on the seventh fret and that would be an E, a typical SUS kind of fourth like that. Now, you do. You repeat this movement. Same thing on the other movement that you do on the other couple of strings below starting on the fifth fret, A string, D note and then an A notes would be on the D string seventh fret. So, the whole movement goes something like this. Okay, this part should be clear enough I guess.
Then comes another part that I think is played like this. So, basically we are still with your index on the fifth fret playing D note. This is the basic chord. It is a D chord like that. This is the fourth simple chord and they are like. I am just taking this finger here. I am leaving this thing. So this is a D chord then he does this thing with the finger on and off and then it goes to the C chord and then G. Always remember, I think they always play G in the same way. I think they are muting the A string from playing where it would play usually on a G chord when you play it open that is on the B notes on the second fret.
It is just very simple as well, it just a barre. This is E. I could also play like this. I am starting my index on the ninth. The notes you want to play are on the ninth fret. I am muting the A string. There is no use for this thing right now. I just give a strike of the E and then just like that, D, A and then G and then back to the rift.
