How to Play He's A Pirate - Pirates of the Carribean Theme - Part 1 of 4
Alright, the lesson on Pirates of the Caribbean theme song, long awaited. Hopefully you guys can see okay, we’re gonna take you through a few parts, this lesson will probably be three parts, two on the whole intro picking… that part. I’m gonna have one lesson for the third one in the strumming chords. That would be modern acoustic, but that’s gonna be for someone else, maybe your buddy can play the picking part and you wanna jam with him, but you can actually play that yet. You can play chords, and I’ll show you those chords in the third lesson. Alright, first lesson, when we do, when we do first is, this is in standard tuning, I’m gonna play a little kinda clip of the song. I don’t have the tabs in front of me so we just gonna go, it’s all ‘bout the back track few times, on some of the notes, don’t worry about it. And hopefully it don’t get hard, so. Alright, it tells a little something like this. Alright, now that is horrible but I’m gonna be able to teach it to you even though I can't play it right now, very well. So, that’s gonna be part one, okay, so I’m gonna tackle that right now. Part two will then cover this whole part the… see… okay, that’s gonna be on part two. And then also on part two will be this… and then the whole… okay. Now, so part one, you’re gonna start out with your, the note that rings out a few times… okay. The way I like to think of it is… one, two, three, four, five, six, se – ven, coz you can't say seven, eight that quick, it’ s bad if you play it, so, one, two, three, four, five, six, se – ven, one, two, three, four, five, six, se – ven, okay. So, seven is actually two picks. So you’re gonna play one, two, three, four, five, six, se – ven, one, two, three, four, five, six, se – ven, one, two, three, four, five, six, se – ven, one, two, three, and then you’re gonna strum. It’s actually a D minor chord, okay. Don’t worry about that, all you know is that you need to have your bar on 5th fret, cross barring five strings, ring and pinky on the 7th fret of your two middle strings, okay. And I just play the A, D, and G strings, okay. That’s all you do there. So just remember one, two, three, four, five, six se – ven, and it immediately start your way back over. Alright, so with the picking, bar across the bottom five, strings along the 5th fret. Put your right finger here, and this is how it’s gonna go. So I’ll play it slow… see… okay, my hand’s cramping up, sort of hurt it today. But, the whole real riff there that you play, your pointer finger’s gonna be barred across the bottom five strings. If you don’t like that, you can always work on yourself, with just moving it from finger to finger, but I think that string to string, that’s way too much harder. So, I’m gonna teach bar across the bottom five strings, that pointer finger there, okay. First thing you gonna play is the 7th fret of your D string. Then you gonna move to the A string, I’m sorry, 7th fret of your D string is your first note. Then you’re gonna play the G string on the 5th fret, where that bar is, once. Then you’re gonna play two notes on the 7th fret of the G string. And you’re gonna play a third one, but you wanna kinda space out that third one from the first and the second one. So, if I play it real quickly you can kinda hear… see it’s that… sorry… there’s just a pause and you go… okay. So, it’s kinda beats of three, almost, like… one, two, three, let’s see, maybe… four… one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, one, two, three, four, one, two, three… something like that. But, bar across the bottom five strings in 5th fret. First note, 7th fret of your D string. Then you’re gonna play open, well 5th fret actually on your G string, I just called it open coz of the bar is covering it. You play it once, then you gonna have two notes right after each other on the 7th fret of your G, then a third note there. And then after you played that third note in G, you’re gonna go right into playing in the B string on the 5th fret, one time… let’s see…. Yeah. So after you played that third note there on the 7th fret of your G, you gonna go once on the B, in the 5th fret… then you’re gonna play three on the 6th fret, one, two, three, fourth note there on that B string is that high E. Or I’m sorry, is your pinky finger on the 9th fret… 8th fret, I’m sorry, up here. So, it's on the G string… on the D string. You have 7, then you move to the G string, you play 5 – 7 – 7 – 7, move to the B string, 5 – 5 – 6 – 6 – 6 – 8… after you play that 8, you play that B string again, but you take your middle finger and your pinky off so you just play the 5th twice… you play it twice. So 5th fret… B string twice. And then you go back here to this G string, 7th fret, you play 7 – 5 – 5 – 7, so 7 – 5 – 5 – 7, okay. Then you play that whole little thing again… but instead of 7 – 5 – 5 – 7, you just play 7 – 5 – 7, okay. So the whole beginning for the first two little parts there is exactly the same, except that you, in 7 – 5 – 5 – 7 there on the… on the G string the first time and the second time through, it’s just 7 – 5 – 7, okay. Now, the third time through gets a little different, and this is probably the toughest part of, honestly one of the tough parts of the whole song. You’re gonna start out again here on the D string, okay, that bar is still there. You’re gonna play 7, then you gonna move down to G string, and you’re gonna play 5 – 7 – 7 – 7, but instead of going open on the B string, instead of one open… 6 – 6 – 6 – 8, you’re gonna go like this… you’re gonna go… let’s see… yeah. So you’re gonna go 7 – 5 – 7 – 7, and when you get to the B string, instead of starting on the 5th fret and going 5 – 6 – 6 – 6 – 8, you’re just gonna go straight to 6 – 8 – 8 – 8, okay. So it’s gonna go, sound like this… that part is the same as the beginning to… but in the third time through you’re gonna go 6… okay. You’re gonna go 6, skip the… you don’t play 5th fret on the B string anymore, sorry I kinda get confused, but I should brought the tabs up. Alright, so the third time through… 6 – 8 – 8, then 8 again, then open on a high E, that’s your 5th fret, coz you’re barring, so 5th 5 – 6 – 6… 6 – 6 – 6 – 5. Then you play the 8th fret of the B string… high E again on the 5th fret. Then you play the 7th fret of your G string. Now, I remember the tabs are over here on youtube, down here on the website.
