Hey, what’s up, it’s Aaron this last Dierks Bentley Song I’ll teach is one of his new ones. off his new album. The thing is called Feel that Fire it came out just the third of February. It’s a pretty new song. Travis Marcum, buddies and Dierks Bentley fan club so he got the song a lot earlier than it was the released, the album and sent it to me. So I've heard it for a couple of weeks here but this lesson, just like the rest of Dierks Bentley lessons I've done, I got three other ones I think, three or four. This one is for him, so Travis I hope you enjoy it and all right, so the first thing you’re to use turn in your guitar down a half step, every string. So in standard tuning you have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and your E, B, G, D, A, E or more commonly from top to bottom E, A,D,G, B, E. you need to tune these down a half step, so this one is the E flat, A flat, D flat, G flat, D flat, and E flat. So a quick way to do it, put your capo if you don’t have a good tune or you just not in the standard tuning. Put your capo in the 1st fret like this then turn your tuner on and o E, A, D, tune to standard tuning with the capo on. I want you to take the capo off, it lowers the half step and you’ll be in half step down tuning which is what you need for the song.
So the strumming for the song is really easy, it’s a lot to down strums. So its like—for the intro, the chord you’re going to need is a D, the D/F# which is a chord that Dierk uses a lot which is just your D chord with his thumb holding the 2nd fret of your low E. So that’s your D, D/F# and a G chord. You’re also going to need an A chord, very common, an E minor, there’s also a C chord, there’s D/B. All that is, is a D chord with your pointer finger instead of having here, go ahead and put it here. Okay, so instead of it being on the 2nd fret of your G string, move it up to the 2nd fret of your E string and your 5 string and that’s your B-note, that’s a D/B. And that is it, those are the chords. So the structure—the intro is just D—

So it’s just all down strum—so I can put emphasis on the bass down when I’m moving. So if in the D chord, you’ve got—

Like A or I get regular D/F#, I’ll try to go up here, hit that note heavy—and then G, that’s going to rattle if you hit it real hard because your in half step down tuning and the strings will loose but don’t worry about it. Then the structure for verse is a D chord—

And the D is 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 then you put that thumb down there for he D/
F# 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and then your G chord is 16 beats so 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. And then third line, G 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 play here and feel the B. So—

So the first count series is that G 1, 2, 3, 4 to D 1, 2, 3, 4 to A 1, 2, 3, 4 to the G and play that for—

And listen to the rhythm D of your heart, A, B A minor, G and C where it leads. Now, the chorus, there’s a B Minor chord in there if you don’t know what a B Minor is bar 5th and 2nd fret, bottom five strings, ring finger and pinky go on the the two little strings, your three and four on the 4th fret and your middle finger is in the two string, your B string, 3rd fret. So, I haven’t really listened—I mean I’ve had this song for a while but haven’t really listened to it much. It’s been on my computer and my iPod but—I’m going to listen to the song on my computer and try to strum along and play with. I’m going to warn you know, it’s probably could be off pitch at certain parts and the rhythm might be off a little as far as singing the lyrics because its not—this is not your straightforward thing. But if you guys listen to it and get comfortable of the song, you’ll be fine. So what I’m going to do right now is I close it, I’m going to pull out the—actually I’m not—we’re in good shape—all right so we’re going to start the song right now—and I’m going to try and do my best to strum and play it for you guys.

That’s the second verse. You can figure out the second verse for yourself. It’s an awesome song. I like it, I hope I listened to it as much as I should. All right, hopefully that lesson helps.
