Hi! I'm Dan Leonard and I'm going to be talking about seventh chord arpeggios in this clip.
We’re going to start with the Major Seventh Arpeggio. Now, these arpeggios can also be based around the five-chord forms that I mentioned with regard to scales. So, based around this E chord form, the major seventh arpeggio for G is fingered like this.
Now, I'll mention at this point that first of all, good to be aware of what the root, the third, the fifth, the seventh root, third, fifth, seventh, where the location of those particular chord tones are in the arpeggio and also to know the names of the notes which obviously I’ll change from root-to-root.
In this case, you have a G, B, D, F sharp and then I repeat G, B, D, F sharp. It’s very important to know the notes in all of the arpeggios and scales and chords for that matter that you play. They’ll give you a much better awareness of what you’re doing and how things fit together in terms of improvising jazz.
