Ok, we’re now in E minor. It’s second fret on the A and D strings. So basically how we’re going to get into that E minor is we’re going to play the A string open, hammer on the second fret, then play the D string open, hammer on the second fret, and the just play the G open. Ok so that part’s going to be:
[Demonstration]
Then once you’re in that E minor again, you're going to play:
[Demonstration]
Then you’re already in the E minor because you’ve hammered on both the strings. Your fingers are here. So then you’re just going to play six-five-four-three-five-four, then you’re going to do the hammering thing again [Demonstration] And that’s the end of the first line. And then for the second line, you should repeat that. So it sounds like this altogether.
[Demonstration]
You repeat that for the second line. So it’s basically just that whole thing again.
[Demonstration]
Just like that. Now, at the end of the second line, you’re going to finish of the [Demonstration] and as you just start at the third line, you’re going to do just the E minor again [Demonstration]. Now after that, you’re going to see on the tab the third line. You start out with third line like we just did [Demonstration]. Instead of going into this G, like we did on the first and second line of the verse, you’re now going to go into the C, ok. So pointer finger on the first fret of your second string, one-two, first fret, your middle finger is going to go on the second fret of your D sting, which is your third one from the top. And your ring finger’s going to go over here on the third fret of your A string The picking pattern for this is going to be, you’re going to start on the fifth string and you’re going to play five-four-three-two-three-four, then lift your pointer finger up off the B string and play two-three-four-three. Then you’re going to change to a D chord formation. But on this D chord formation, your middle finger’s going to be off, so high E is going to be open. And the strum pattern or the picking pattern if you’re going to be there is you’re going to start on the four string, which is your open D, you’re going to play four-three-two-one, then you’re going to go back up here and you’re going to play three-two, and when you play the one the second time, your middle finger goes down the second fret… and you go back up and you play three-two, and when you get to one again, this time you your pinky on the third fret. So it sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
After that, you transition back to the E minor and play that same little riff.
[Demonstration]
And then you play that same line again.
[Demonstration]
So the third and fourth line of the verse sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
That’s the third and fourth part of the verse. So the verse of four lines, it’s like this is the first and second line.
[Demonstration
That’s the first and second line. Third line-
[Demonstration]
That right there is probably going to be close to 10 minutes. So what I’m going to do is pause really quick right here. I’m actually going to just pause for a second, be quiet and start the next lesson, which is going to cover the chorus. So, take care. Good luck with this one and check out the next lesson.
Ok, this is the second lesson on “Landing in London” by Three Doors Down. We just did the intro and the verse, picking pattern and strumming in the first lesson. Check it out if you haven’t seen it. The second one that we’re going to do is the chorus. The chorus, the picking pattern is “When the night falls in around me”, if you want to do completely strumming which is actually what they do in the second chorus, you would just do E minor, to C, to A minor, to E minor. And the strum patter would be down, down, down, up, up, down, down, up, down, up, and switch to C, down, down, down, up, up, down, down, up, down, up, A minor, down, down, down, up, up, down, down, up, down, up, then back to E minor. Ok so that sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
That’s the first time to the chorus. The second time to the chorus, you just play E minor [Demonstration] to C [Demonstration] same strum pattern , except you finish that with D, just play it once… let it ring out. Ok, then you’re going to play that intro again.
[Demonstration]
We’ve talked about on the first video, so check out the first video, if you don’t know that intro.
[Demonstration]
So once you play that into after the chorus, you go back in the second verse.
Now back to the first chorus, you want to do the picking pattern. The way they do it is, for the E minor chords, they do the picking riff that we learned in the first one. So for the E minor chords, we do this picking pattern [Demonstration]. And like I said, with your E minor down and you play six-five-four-three-five –six-four, so [Demonstration] and you strum your C [Demonstration] strum your A minor [Demonstration] when you go back into this E minor, to end you strum it once… and then you play the same picking pattern we did at the beginning [Demonstration]. Then you do this [Demonstration], which is just A string open and hammer on two, D string open, hammer on two, open G.
That is all on the first lesson, so don’t get frustrated if I’m going fast. Go back and watch the first lesson. Check out the tabs over here and you guys will be fine with it. Ok, this second time through the chorus, once again.
[Demonstration]
