Okay this is a song called Gettin’ The Hook It is my tribute to John Lee Hooker. Using some of the stuff we have learned so far. Slides, Pull Offs and Hammers. So, here we go.
(Music Playing)
Let us take a second like deconstruction. There is a lot of going on there and it is easy once you started taking it in a part. So, on the beginning we are using the Rhythmic Slide. Now be careful on this because the first part of this comes in on the second half of the beat. What that means is I am counting into four, “one, two, three, four. One, and two and three and four and one.
(Music playing while demonstrating)
Did you try coming on the one it is going to end up a little staggered song. So, just be careful that listen to the song a few times give it in your head before you actually try it. song
So, we start off with the Rhythmic Slide, I use my second finger to do this.
(Music playing while demonstrating)
I just walked down the Pentatonic Scale. Now watch on this next part I go.
(Music playing while demonstrating)
When I hit the three and the five. I am using my first and third fingers. Much easier than using your second and fourth, so, just move your fingers up then you are going to repeat that same move.
(Music Playing)
Now we are going to walked down our Pentatonic Scale.
(Music Playing)
Now, once again, you notice when I finger this I just used my second finger. We are not practicing the scale now when I am doing this is just sort of within the heat of battle I am using what I think is right. In this case it sets me up for the next lick, which is back into.
(Music Playing) Again. (Music Playing).
Okay now, we are going to use that flat five that we have learned earlier
(Music Playing) that
(Music Playing)
There is that bluesy little bugger. Okay, then back to the original lick.
(Music Playing)
Now, the second half of the song is almost identical to the first half, except you are throwing in the Double Pull off that we learned. So, starting here again we slide up. We do the Rhythmic Slide.
(Music Playing while demonstrating)
Now watch it. Okay, doing that Triple Pull Off or Double Pull Off.
(Music Playing) Same thing (Music Playing while demonstrating)
Make sure you articulate those Pull -offs. Walking down again, pull-off.
(Music Playing)
Okay, once again you notice I am doing the Pull-offs using my second and first finger. It just gives me a little leverage.
(Music Playing)
I use a quick slide walking down. Pull Off. Here comes the Hammer.
