Welcome to GuitarLessons.com I’m Nate Savage. In this Metal lesson I’m going to teach you just a regular metal riff that incorporates some tremolo picking. And you’ll probably hear riffs like this a lot in like death metal and black metal, stuff like that. So if you like this stuff, start out slow, put your picking hand in gear and check out the riff, I’ll show you the notes on the lesson.
Basically I’m starting with the open E

And I come up an octave higher than that on the 7th fret on the A string
[Demonstration]
Then back down to the 6th fret on a low E string
[Demonstration]
2nd fret low E string
[Demonstration]
And 3rd fret with your middle finger
[Demonstration]
2nd fret on you’re A string with the index finger
[Demonstration]
That’s pretty much it. Just loop that over and over again.

And then ramp it up a little—

So experiment with this kind of picking on your right hand, make your own notes and make your own riffs but just move the notes around with your left hand.
