Hi, I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This guitar lesson is about how to play the guitar solo from Nowhere Man by the Beatles from the Rubber Soul album. I will first play it with guitar backing and then I will show how to play it, note for note. Here it goes.
[Demonstration]
First part is played as part of an E chord. That is the bottom four strings that you play. So, it is the fourth string, II fret; third string, I fret; and to strum the four bottom strings.
[Demonstration]
And then, it is the first string.
[Demonstration]
And then second string.
[Demonstration]
So it is.
[Demonstration]
The next part is the B, it is the same as an A chord but move it up too fast like that. So you are playing it at the fourth fret position, second string, third string, and fourth string. And strum the strings that you are holding down.
[Demonstration]
And then it is first string open.
[Demonstration]
Then II fret, first string.
[Demonstration]
So it is.
[Demonstration]
Next part it is like an A chord. You play the strings that you are holding down.
[Demonstration]
And pluck the second string.
[Demonstration]
And third string.
[Demonstration]
So,
[Demonstration]
And it is back to an E chord and strum the middle four strings.
[Demonstration]
And then play the third string, II fret with your pinkie.
[Demonstration]
And then play the second string open.
[Demonstration]
So it is.
[Demonstration]
Next part is part of an F#m chord. So, it is the third string II fret, fourth string, IV fret and to the fifth string, IV fret. You play just the notes that you are holding down.
[Demonstration]
And then you pluck the third string.
[Demonstration]
And fourth string.
[Demonstration]
So it is.
[Demonstration]
The next part, play the third string, II fret; fifth string, III fret. Those two notes and you mute the fourth string. Like -- so it is like.
[Demonstration]
Once again.
[Demonstration]
And pluck the third string.
[Demonstration]
And the fifth string.
[Demonstration]
Then keep your finger on a fifth string, slide it down to the II fret.
[Demonstration]
Slide it open.
[Demonstration]
And play the open top string.
[Demonstration]
So it is.
[Demonstration]
The very last note is a harmonic except the V fret. So, let you put your finger right above the V fret here and just pluck it.
[Demonstration]
Like that.
[Demonstration]
So once again, I will review you the solo. I will play it slowly.
[Demonstration]
Now, if you want to play along. I will play the backing chords. Want to tune in my guitar, here is the A string.
[Demonstration]
Ready. One, two, three, four,
[Demonstration]
I hope this lesson has been helpful and I have a guitar lesson website at over 50 videos on it. It is www.bobsguitarlessons.50megs.com and thanks for watching.
