Okay, here we are on looking at a nicely C major seven for the bar. So, F major seven for a bar and basically just alternating between those two codes. So, we are going to use a hybrid picking to play a little idea where we use the scale, we fretted and some of the notes will be open. Now, we are going to play C major just kind of starting on G which would normally be called G mix. We are playing over a backing track as in the key of C, especially it is going to be C and it is going to have a C.
So the lick sounds like this. Okay, it should sound fretted. What we are doing is we are pulling off from the eight to the six on the B and using a hybrid picking technique to play the open E. So we get the first three notes to this scale and we move over to the G string and then play seven to five and then we use the open B to get that note and then we play the A on the seventh fret D then we use the open G to get that note and then replay down the scale and then down to say, at this time going third to second, this time put on the G, at the top open G.
Okay, so the whole lick. And then just that low section, we are going to practice that and at this time we can. Remember that second finger lick, we opened note at the end. So, that is how I play with the backing track, see what this sounds like.
Okay, so pretty straightforward, we just played the lick and it is nice to using the solo context. You get use to an interesting open string ideas as well as the hybrid picking.
Okay, the next technique we are going to look at is a pedal tone technique and this has been popularized by Eric Johnson and in this scenario like this, he would play, say for example, C on the eight for a high string. And remember, all you do is you just pedal in time between that and these notes.
Okay, so every time you are playing that C then going to B on the 12th fret, eight on the 3rd fret B string, then we have G, F and E on the 12th, 10th and ninth frets on the G string. Okay, very simple technique but very, very effective indeed. So unless if I go, but I am going to try to mix the two to go in there.
Okay, so you heard me do the two techniques there very, very nice, kind of lyrical ideas that are simply we got over this to other ballads.
