Hey guys, what’s up? It’s Aaron from FreeandEasyGuitar.com, this lesson right here is going to on the new Country Song by Billy Currington called People are Crazy. The guitar is in standard tuning, E, A, D, G, B, E and I've added a capo on the 5th fret. Okay, the tab that I’m going to give you guys is relative to the capo, so if you here me say five, then that means you’re going to be five frets above the capo. Capo on the 5th, if I say 5th fret, you’re really on 10th fret, you’re 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. This is 5 because it’s five below the capo. Okay, so just looking at here sounds like—

I’m sorry, hey guys, what’s up? It’s Aaron from FreeandEasyGuitar.com. This lesson’s going to be on People are Crazy by Billy Currington, it’s a new country song, truly good song and I have a capo on the 5th fret. The guitar is in standard tuning and I’m going to teach you the intro first and chorus. So intro is this—
[Demonstration]
Okay, it’s really simple, it’s the same thing twice in a row so don’t get pressured there. So, you’re going to start off on the B string. Every note but one is on the B string. Okay the note that’s not going to be on the B string is on the G string and it’s just open. That’s on it which is this note, you don’t have to hold anything down. So start out on the B string and take your ring finger put it on the 10th fret, overall which is the 5th fret of your capo. So I’m going to give you numbers 5, 3, 1 as relative to the capo, this is 5 relative to the capo, you’re going to play. Three times you’re going to play 5, 5, you’re going to play twice in the beginning, kind of quickly together. 5, 5 and a pause, and you play 5, 3, 1. Okay, after that one, you’re going to play the G string open. So we’re on to this first couple notes again, 5, 5, pause, 5, 3, 1, open on the G string. As you play that, you’re going to play 1, 1, you’re going to play 1 on the first fret of the 5th string after you play the open G. So you’re going to play only B, 5, 5, 5, 3, 1, open G and then you’re going play in first fret B again, so 1, 3, 3, 3, 3, 5, 3, 1 and you repeat the whole thing over. So slowly all together, I’m going to give you numbers remember, most of these except for one note is on the B string. All of them except for one note on the B string, so it’s 5, 5, pause, 5, 3, 1, open G, 1, 3, 3, pause, 3, 3, 5, 3, 1. You do that twice so:
[Demonstration]
Okay, so that’s the intro, very simple. So for the chord, I’m going to have to pull this up here because I have a problem with that. We got capo on the 1st fret, 5th fret and the intro chord is plays to C and a G. Okay so stroke kind of out used throughout on most of the song is just this:
[Demonstration]
So that’s down, down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, so is the G, down, down, down, up, up, down, up, down, up, down, down, up.
[Demonstration]
Okay, just like that. So I’m what I’m going to do is go through the verse and I’ll sing it for you and play it and then show you the chords. Actually I’ll show the chords first, so for the verse, “This old man and me, were at the bar and we. We’re having us some beers and swapping I don’t cares, Talking politics, blonde chicks all blah”. All right, so C, G, Am, F is basically the common progression through that. So just play that strum pattern. Okay, so start up with C chord to a G, to an Am and you finish on your F. When I go from my Am to my F, all right, one thing that I try to do is, there’s a no common fingers mean there’s no fingers that are in Am that are the same as your F chord. But there is something you can kind of do to make it a little easier. You get your Am chord, your middle finger is the one finger that I want you to focus on it’s on your 4th string, 1, 2, 3, 4, on the 2nd fret. Okay, so it’s this note. When you move from your Am minor, you pick up your pointer, pick up your ring, and leave that little finger there for a second. Once that little finger is there, you put your ring finger on the 3rd fret of your A string, all right. This is a common progression that you would use like for a C chord, okay, from an Am to a C, okay. But what I want you to do is go from your Am, with your pointer finger off, with your ring finger off, put your ring finger down on the 3rd fret of your A string, 1, 2, 3, on your 2nd string now on top you’re a string. All right, so now you’re almost in the common formation you use for a C chord, but you want to go to F, all right. So now that this ring finger is where you would for an F, you can take this finger off. Add your pinky down, the little finger goes down there on the G string, 2nd fret and then your bar comes down for the F, okay. So moving from an Am to that F, is almost kind of like you want to trick yourself at first like you’re moving to the C. Because when you move from Am to C it’s really easy transition, it’s something you’re probably familiar with. So Am, move that ring finger down here like it’s going to be a C chord and then you pick these up, put your pinky finger down, add the little finger and make your F bar. Okay, so that’s all I want you to do for that. You play that chord progression twice, then you play the third time and then you play, “God is great, beer is good and people are crazy” and that’s C, G, C, G. So that is the, I’m just going to play first two, the first part for you. It’s kind of an interesting song structure so I’ll just play and you kind of follow along. So the chord progression I taught you, C, G, Am, F.
[Demonstration]
Then C.
[Demonstration]
And G.
[Demonstration]
Am.
[Demonstration]
And your F, okay, so just C or G.
[Demonstration]
G.
[Demonstration]
Play that C and then you just play a G with no words to get ready for the second part.
Okay, then you go to the second verse, “He said "I fought two wars, Been married and divorced, "What brings you to Ohio?” It’s a same chord progression, here’s this part:
[Demonstration]
Okay, and then you got the C, G, Am, F, and then C, G, C, G again. This is for the second chorus:
[Demonstration]
Finish on a C and you play another G, keep strumming. Okay, then you get to the bridge. It starts with an F, same strum pattern to Em, to the Dm, to a G. You guys know what an F and Em, G are. The Dm you may not know, take your ring finger and put on the 2nd string up. All right so, you’re B string on the 3rd fret, your middle finger goes on the 2nd fret of your G string. All right so you’re 3rd string up, you got this on your 2nd fret and then your high E, your pointer finger’s on the 1st fret okay. So starting from the bottom string is high E, you get your pointer finger 1st fret, next string up your B your ring finger’s on the 3rd fret and the 3rd string up, your G string, your middle fingers on the 2nd fret. Hence that chord. Okay so:
[Demonstration]
Okay, then you got, it’s going to pick some tempo a little bit, same chord progression. “Then one sunny day”, it’s a C, G, Am, F. I don’t need to play that for your guys and at the end he plays 3 times, “God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy”. First time through it’s C to G, to C to F, second time through it’s C to G to Am and to F, third time it’s C, G, C and the outro is just like the intro it’s C and G, for the same strum pattern all way through.
Listen to the song if you want to get kind of some of the runs and where it goes to the vocals regarding chords and remember check out FreeandEasyGuitar.com. I hope that helped, take care.
