Here are a few step patterns to work with. You play the chord and then the scale. Here are the major step patterns.
For the minor scales, flat the third note of the scale with a step pattern. (Demonstration) Now, we get to the blues scale. (Demonstration)
Remember to practice working at basic triad chords with your left hand. Using your little finger, also called the fifth finger or the root note, play the chord and hold it down, letting it sustain. Begin practicing the scale you worked out with your right hand beginning with the root note, paying particular attention to the correct fingering that we worked on earlier. (Music playing) Try a different key. (Demonstration)
For scales, remember the root note with the thumb, also referred to as the first finger, in ascending through the scales, step pattern with your remaining fingers bringing, your thumb under. It will be slow going at first, but it will soon become easier.
If you could practice this a little bit everyday, you will notice a considerable advance in your playing skills and knowledge of the keyboard. Try working in one key for a few days then move on to another for a bit.
