Hi! I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This lesson is about how to play the guitar solo from “Mother” by Pink Floyd from the Wall album. I will first play the solo with a backing guitar and then I will show how to play the solo note for note. Here it goes.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Okay the first note is at the 3rd string 12th fret. And then go to the 2nd string 13th fret and bend up, and bend up again. Pull off to the 12th fret and play the 13th fret then to the 4th string 14th fret, 13th fret and pull off. Then to the 5th string then go the 2nd fret and slide up to the 7th fret. Then to the 3rd string 5th fret and pull off to the 4th fret do that twice. And to the 5th string 5th fret and slide to the 3rd fret in to the 2nd fret and to the 3rd fret. Slide up the 1st fret and back down to the 3rd fret. So, once again that first part slowly.
[Guitar Demonstration]
And then it is to the 3rd string 2nd fret then slide up to the 7th fret. Then the 2nd string 10th fret pull off to the 8th back to the 10th and bend up and down then up again. And bend up again, down to the 8th fret and up to the 13th fret still on the 2nd string. Then to the 4th string 14th fret pull off to the 13th fret and come back to the 14th, and so that part again.
[Guitar Demonstration]
And the last part, 2nd string 10th fret it is a very quick note, you can even muffle a couple of strings there. The 1st string 12th fret bend up, down to the 10th fret then to the 8th fret 2nd string same thing just a quick note. Then bend up on the 1st string 10th fret back down in to the 8th fret, so it is --
[Guitar Demonstration]
And then it is 1st string 8th fret come off to the 7th and 8th, come off to the 7th, 8th fret 2nd string, 3rd string 7th fret, and to the 3rd string 5th fret pull off to the 4th fret and to the 4th string 5th fret. And that is the solo.
Now, if you want to play along, I will play the backing guitar chord. Here is my A note if you want to tune to my guitar. Okay, 1, 2, 3, 4.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Those chords are G, C, G, C, G, C, D, C, G back to G.
Well, I hope this lesson has been helpful, and thanks for watching.
