Male 1: Hey, we’re supposed to score a heavy lot better alright? You have to win one
more tonight alright? Bring it in. 1, 2, 3 griffins.
Anna: Quidditch is a sport originating from Harry Potter. Everyone wants around on
broom sticks and it’s a crazy combination of dodge ball, flag football, rugby and
maybe basketball. And it involves a bunch of different magical balls, the snitch is
a tennis ball inside of a sock tacked in to the snitch runner’s pants. And the seeker
has to grab it like a flag football. The 3 bludgers are dodge balls that the beaters
throw at other players and the quaffle is the ball that chases pass to each other and
try to get it to the other team troupes.
The goal of the game is to get as many points as possible when you get the quaffle
to the hoop you get 10 points and the game ends when the seeker catches the
snitch which is worth 30 points. The snitch runner is a mutual player and he’s not
on either of the teams and is usually track runner so he’s actually running. And he
can run anywhere on or off the field and he could do whatever it takes to get the
seekers from catching the snitch. When it’s caught its worth 30 points and ends
the game and whichever team has the most points at the end wins.
John: When you’re actually playing quiditch we’re spending around with these brooms
between our legs, it looks pretty awkward at first and it definitely is but you’ll get
used to it pretty quickly. I mean it’s just like running only you’ve got you know 3
foot poll between your legs.
Christopher: These are the two balls using the game of quidditch, you have a quaffle, and then
a bludger. A quaffle is used by chasers, there’s only one quaffle in the field at all
times. And this is the ball that you would score with. In order to score with shoot
the three hoops and you will receive 10 points for that then you have the bludger.
The bludger is used by beaters, there are two beaters per each team. There are
three bludger in the field at all times and when you got hit with a bludger you
have to take a lap on your own goal post to come back in to play.
Chris: Try as flashy as we could, kind of distract the other team. You’re got to be pretty
looking at our self, its just I’ve worn my pants and score, hit me and the ring.
Keith: We are the chasers of Americas finest British Club. The 3 of us we dominated the
field wearing our white head bands, taking the quaffle and putting to other team’s
hoops. We also play tag of war on defense so we make sure all the other chasers
from the other team is squalling us.
Alex: We’re beaters and we wear black head bands, each team has 2 of us on the field at
one time and we’re the people throwing big dodge balls, called bludgers, at
people.
Matt: Well that does is when we hit on people they have to stop whatever they are
doing, you’re double back ground the hoops. It’s a great way to turn defensive
and offensive because you can really stop the offensive. You can tag up the
passing and get your team back the ball back at the field quickly.
Abdullah: Keepers usually wear green bands; our job is to protect the 3 goals on our side of
the pledge and to shout orders to the rest of the team because we have a better
view of the way go on.
Tim: I’m a seeker and there’s one of me on each team on the field at the time. Signified
by this yellow head band and my job are to catch the snitch which for my team
earns 30 points and ends the game.
Damish: I’m the snitch for the IQA and I wear all yellow, I have this ball hanging out of
the back of my shorts and the game ends when one of the seekers catches this and
gives their team 30 points doing that. I’m completely impartial, I’m not affiliated
with any of the teams that are playing so that’s always fun. It gives all the seekers
an even chance even though they are playing against snitches and whose goal it is
will humiliate them and even chance to get this from my shorts.
Adam: A lot of people don’t realize just how big the sub culture of people who can
perform magic really is. And you know we go under the radar a lot. You know
you don’t think Michigan State University, oh that’s where those wizards come
from. You normally think of all that’s the football team and the basketball team
but really it’s about bringing people from across the country and across the world
together to share in the love of the other worldly abilities that we were born with
and some how despite all scientific knowledge still perform.
